Tom Wessels 2018 Walk

Opt Outside with the GCT and Tom: Friday, November 23, 9:00 AM

We are pleased to spend the day after Thanksgiving walking our property with terrestrial ecologist and professor emeritus at Antioch University New England. Tom, a Groton favorite, will help us explore and identify the landscape of the Blackman Field and Woods and in the Audubon Rocky Hills property.

We will meet at the end of Indian Hill Road. Some parking is available, carpooling is recommended.  We will start at 9:00 AM and hike for about 2 hours. This is gentle terrain, appropriate clothing is recommended.  Tom will have copies of his books to sell, Reading the Forested Landscape and Forest Forensics.

This informational hike is made possible with a grant from the Groton Commissioners of Trust Funds.

Tom explains the history of our landscape using clues we can see today.

Last year, a record 80 people decided to opt outside and follow Tom through the woods.

Tom shares how every part of the forest gives us clues to the past.
